Module 8 - Multimedia Capabilities:
 Overview

This module discusses the multimedia capabilities of the PC. Multimedia presentations go beyond text and images to include video, animation, live situations, audience interaction, and sound. The student will learn about the basic hardware including video cards, computer displays, and media file formats used in multimedia. This module provides information on how to install or upgrade video and sound cards, including the configuration of drivers and software. CD and DVD drives are examined, providing the student with an overview of their functions and their advantages in multimedia production.

 Overview

A network server is the center of a network environment. This makes the server a critical component for users to access files, e-mail, programs, printers, and so on. Because of this, fault tolerance is important for a network server. Fault tolerance refers to the capability of a system to continue working when a hardware failure occurs. One method used to provide fault tolerance is RAID technology. This module focuses on RAID technology and discusses memory upgrades, configuration of external disk subsystems, and external CD-ROM systems.

Module 10 - Networking Fundamentals:
Overview

By definition, a computer network has two or more devices linked together for the purpose of sharing information and resources. This module provides the student with an overview of how networks work and share services. This module details five types of networks. The student learns about the physical components of a network, the important utilities used to troubleshoot and how to add the network interface card.
